Simple To Operate.Natures Head Composting Toilet with lid up gate closed

Using The Natures Head Composting Toilet is  easy and very intuitive.  It automatically separates the urine from the solids because of the door mechanism in the toilet bowl. Adding a bit of sawdust or coconut coir and turning the handle after each use assures that the composting process will take place and that there will be absolutely no odor.

Simple To Empty.Emptying The Natures Head Composting Toilet is simple

The separate urine bottle can be easily removed as needed and emptied in the appropriate method for your conditions. Usually every two or three days of regular use.
The solids are emptied after about 80 uses, or a month or so. It can be disposed of or transferred to a compost area that is dedicated to humanure compost. After about a year of composting it will be excellent soil. You can learn all about how to do it with the free best selling book "The Humanure Handbook" included with the purchase of any composting toilet from Being Water.
From The Manufacturer.Natures Head Close Quarters Handle model

"This toilet or head, (the marine term for toilet) was designed by two long time sailors who sought to create a more user friendly version than anything else on the market. While we designed our product to withstand the harsh marine environment, it can be used anywhere you need a toilet, especially anywhere that plumbing or electricity is difficult or non-existent -- on RV's or campers, in vacation cabins, workshops, barns, yurts, even trucks.  Most importantly, this toilet doesn't have the foul odors associated with all other holding tank systems.
The low volume air circulation fan built into the head provides the added benefit of recycling the air in your bathroom which helps make your whole environment smell better. Because it was originally designed for marine use, its rugged design and materials (all stainless hardware) it has been proven to be  extremely durable no matter what your environment."

Composting Toilet Trivia

The first commercially produced Composting toilet was offered in 1875 and called "The Earth Closet"

It had a storage tank on the back that held a supply of soil or sawdust instead of water. After use you would just turn the crank one revolution to empty a cup or so of dirt onto the latest leavings. Once the bucket was full you would empty it. It was a good idea even by today's standards.
