TOILET BASICS

Since there are a number of toilet configurations on the market today, we thought that we would make things simple for you. We have assembled some photos of the inside of tanks to help you determine which product will best suit your needs.

One2flush Dual Flush Kit

The image at the right shows a common tank configuration that works with the One2flush Dual Flush Kit. It could be a variety of different arrangements and it would still work. This is because of the cable mechanism between the handle and the flush valve on the One2flush. It allows for handle placement anywhere on the tank. The lower image is of a flapper valve that has been removed. Notice where the measurement is being taken from. It is being taken from the inside diameter. If you get a measurement of 2 to 2 1/2" measuring from the points in the image, the standard 2" One2flush Dual Flush Kit will work in your toilet. Click on the images to enlarge the. The tank shown is a 1.6 gallon tank. It would be the same for a 3.5 gallon or a 5 gallon tank

 One2flush Dual Flush Bonus Pack

This image shows is the same type of toilet tank with an old style ball float fill valve. The float arm has a tendency of getting in the way of the dual flush valve in low profile tanks. (12" or less) Also, if you have a toilet that you suspect the fill valve is leaking on  then it would be best to change out everything in the tank. The link below will take you back to the Bonus Pack page.

 One2flush 3" Dual Flush Kit Available again July1 2010

This tank has a 3" flush valve.  Notice it has a larger flapper diameter than the previous pictures. It's easy to see the difference once you look at both types. The measurement to determine the proper Dual Flush Kit will be the same as above except you will be looking for an inside diameter of 2 3/4" to 3 1/4". This particular tank has the fill valve and handle on the right side. This makes no difference with our dual flush kits. For this type of toilet you will need the

If your toilet is old and you suspect that the fill valve is leaking

then we recommend the

 Questionable:

There are a few newer models out there that now have a 4" flush valve on them. We
are not able to address this situation at this time. We are working on it though, and
should have products available by mid 2010. If you aren't sure, take a picture and send it to us at the email below. We're always happy to help you figure it out.

One Piece Toilets

Since we have had inquiries about One Piece Toilets, we decided to pursue that area as well. At this time we are able to supply you with the same Dual Flush technology on your 2" one piece toilet.

One2flush Dual Flush Toilet Kit For One Piece Toilets

If you have a toilet that looks similar to one of the ones to
the right, then our one piece dual flush kit will work for
you. Several things to consider are; It must have a lever
type handle and the tank must have a depth of at least 8
1/2" on the inside of the tank. For this type of toilet
you will need the One2flush

A few older one piece toilets used a silent flush
mechanism. Our fill valves are not compatible with them.

Questions and Answers

General Questions

Q. Will the One2flush fit my toilet?

A. In most cases it will. The One2flush 2" standard unit will fit 85% of all toilets in The U.S. today. And over 90% of all toilets made before 2001. If  you have a one piece toilet, meaning that the tank and bowl are one solid piece, we have the One2flush for one piece toilets. If you have a toilet that has a 3" flush valve, we have the One2flush For 3" Toilets. And finally, if you have a one piece toilet with a 3" flush valve we have the unit that will fit that as well, but you will have to call us for more information.  More information is available on these items on our Toilet Basics page. We have attempted to cover every scenario so that everyone can participate in conserving water in an affordable manner without having to add to the landfills by taking still usable and potential water saving toilets there.

Q. Will I need to change my fill valve?

A. Since the Dual Flush Kits all now come with the Water Saving Fill Valve included there is no reason not to

A. That would depend on the situation. If you have replaced your fill valve in the last several years and it's a type that doesn't have a ball float and arm, then by all means keep the one you have and get the most use out of the product you have already purchased. If you have the type of fill valve that has a float ball and arm attached, it may take up to much room and obstruct the One2flush assembly. In many cases the float arm can be bent to facilitate installation of the One2flushDual Flush Kit. This is true in most older 3 1/2 gallon toilets. However, in the newer 1.6 gallon toilets there is not nearly as much room inside of the tank so fitting to much bulky equipment such as these old style fill valves. If you are not sure, our Toilet Basics page has a lot more information on this question. If you decide you need a fill valve, our Water Saving Fill Valve is a good choice. It is also available in one of our Bonus Packs.

Q. How low can my toilet tank be?

A. Your toilet tank can be as low as 8 1/2", measuring from the bottom of the tank to the inside bottom of the tank lid.

Q. How low can the water level be in my toilet tank?

A.  The One2flush will operate effectively with as little as 7" of water in the tank in most cases. However, if you have one of the older toilets with a large toilet bowl you will probably have to set the water level a bit higher to provide enough gravity pressure to empty the bowl on the half flush. You can still adjust the amount of water that leaves the tank. Raising the water level just increases the gravity force of the water into the bowl and aids in the flush cycle.

Q. If I don't like it, can I return it?

A. All  products sold by Being Water come with a 30 Day return policy and a 1 year replacement warranty. If you decide you don't want it please return it to Being Water Returns P.O. Box 717 Fort Bragg, Ca. 95437  .  If you return it because of a defect in the product, we will refund your entire purchase excluding shipping and handling. If the product fails in the first year, please return it  along with original purchase receipt/invoice and Being Water will repair or replace the unit.

Common Installation Issues

Q. I can't get the half flush to work correctly. It doesn't evacuate the bowl when I  flush. Or; The half flush only works every other time.

A. This is usually caused by not enough water in the tank.  The One2flush requires at least 7" of water in the tank to work properly. In some cases you may have to have the tank level even higher. The amount of water that is used to flush can then be adjusted by means of the blue adjustment on the side of the Dual Flush Mechanism.

Q. I am getting a leak between the tank and the bowl.

A. There are several probable causes for this.

The main cause is that the gasket isn't seated properly.

Next cause is the tank to bowl connecting bolts. They come with enough components to fit any installation configuration. In some cases where the tank sits very close to the bowl, the secondary rubber washer  can't be used. They will cause the sponge rubber gasket to not seat properly. This situation happens in very few toilets. But if when you are setting the tank onto the bowl and you don't notice any compression with the sponge gasket, or it feels like the tank is directly against the bowl, remove the flat rubber  and then install the tank by just using the wing nuts or hex nut on the underside of the bowl.

It can also be that the base of the dual flush valve is not tight enough on the tank for the soft rubber gasket to seal. Tighten the valve base to correct the problem.

Q. The handle on my One2flush sticks in the half flush (or full flush) direction.

A. This is probably caused by a bind in the cable. Turn the flush valve body on the base until there is no more bind. The handle will then operate correctly.
