When I first saw Lifestraw, I was immediately struck by the profound changes that are possible in peoples lives by the use of this simple life changing tool. This simple ingenious filter will supply one person clean drinking water for about one year. To those of us in western society that have been able to take clean water for granted our entire lives, this may not seem like such a big deal. But to a person, family or community that is dependent on turbid ponds and polluted rivers to sustain their life, a tool like this can mean everything. Just imagine how a families ability to see life differently and clearly can be enhanced by the use of this device. Imagine what it can be like to have a sense of well-being for the first time because you know your family’s drinking water is now safe to drink. Imagine being part of this process of changing the lives and saving the lives of literally millions of people.

Can you guess that we are passionate about water? We are also equally passionate about the basic human right of water being available to everyone on the planet. At any
given moment, about half of the world's poor are suffering from waterborne disease, of which over 6,000 - mainly children - die each day by consuming unsafe drinking water. One more time: 6,000 kids die each day from drinking bad water!
Today, more than one billion people of the world's population are without access to safe drinking water.
Safe water interventions have vast potential to transform the lives of millions of people. Water filtration tools not only provide safe drinking water but also have a positive health impact on the most vulnerable populations, including young children, pregnant women and those with debilitated immune systems.
The Cochrane review (2006) demonstrates that water filters are the most effective interventions among all point-of-use water treatment methods for reducing diarrheal diseases. This study also proves that it is not enough to treat water at the point-of-source; it must also be made safe at the point of consumption.
At Being Water LLC, we discovered that Vestergaard Frandsen (Switzerland) is a world leader in personal water filtration systems with the LifeStraw. LifeStraws are only distributed to those in need and you won't find these life-saving water devices at your local sporting goods store in the U.S. So, we created the Straws for Life Project because it so closely aligns with our purpose and passion about the conservation of water.
We actively support the distribution of LifeStraws through Rotary International. When you shop for water saving products at www.BeingWater.com, we donate 5% of our profits to the delivery of LifeStraws to those who desperately need it. One LifeStraw will provide a human being with a year's worth of drinking water (about 700+ liters).
Purchase a water-saving device from us...and at the same time you can help someone out with a life-saving water device on the other side of the globe.
